(CNN) -- Gunmen stormed the mayor's office Monday in the town of al-Dhuloiya in northern Iraq, killing five security guards, police said.
The mayor was not in his office at the time of the attack.
Al-Dhuloyia is a predominantly Sunni town in Salaheddin province, about 70 kilometers (45 miles) north of Baghdad.
In a separate incident, gunmen robbed a pair of jewelry stores in the northeastern Baghdad neighborhood of al-Shaab before getting into a shootout with police.
The clash lasted 15 minutes, police said. The gunmen escaped with an undetermined amount of gold and cash, authorities said. Source
